Izuru Yumizuru is a married male residing in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. His pseudonym is derived from his parents' professions: "Yumizuru" honors his father, a shamisen player, while "Izuru" reflects his mother's work as an ikebana artisan. He has served as a scenario writer for several visual novels produced by Alicesoft, including Tsumamigui 2 (2003), Shimaima (2004), Yokubari Saboten (2006), and Double Sensei Life (2007). Yumizuru has battled significant health issues throughout his life, requiring regular hospitalization; at one point, he underwent an epidural administration to prevent paralysis from the waist down. He began writing Infinite Stratos while he was unemployed and receiving treatment as a patient at Tokyo University hospital.
