Hikari Mitsushima, born in Okinawa, Japan, is a multifaceted entertainer known for her work as both a film actress and singer. Her musical journey commenced in 1997 when she emerged as a teenage idol within the J-pop ensembles Folder and Folder 5. While she made her acting debut that same year in Rebirth of Mothra II, she did not transition to a consistent acting career until 2005. Her filmography includes notable appearances in the manga-based thriller Death Note (2006) and the acclaimed drama Love Exposure (2008), directed by Sion Sono. Her portrayal in the latter garnered significant critical acclaim and resulted in several awards. Following this breakthrough, she secured starring roles in Kakera: A Piece of Our Life (2009) and Sawako Decides (2010), both written and directed by Yuya Ishii. She married Ishii in late 2010, though the couple divorced in 2016. Since then, she has been in a relationship with actor Kento Nagayama. Additionally, she is the sister of actor Shinnosuke Mitsushima.
