Born in Kitami, Hokkaido, Japan, Chiharu Kitaoka received her training at Production Ace Engi Kenkyuujo before graduating from Yoyogi Animation Gakuin. She made her debut as a seiyuu in the 2009 series Kiddy GiRL-AND, performing under the stage name Aya Gouda. She continued to use this moniker until departing the Production Ace agency in September 2012.
