In a future New York not far from now, a homeless teenager named Hideyoshi survives by fixing street basketball games. His luck changes when he's recruited by a professional team with a singular purpose. Basketball was once ruled by humans, but now the league is controlled by physically superior aliens, leaving very few human players left. As part of the first all-human roster to compete in the Space League, Hideyoshi and his teammates aim to win back the championship for Earth.

Although Buzzer Beater was originally published on sport station "Sports Eye ESPN" (J SPORTS) website in full color, it was also later serialized in Monthly Shounen Jump. The web version was published in four different languages simultaneously; Chinese, Korean, English, and Japanese. The series was published digitally in English by Fantasista Inc. through Manga Planet from June 26, 2021 to November 6, 2021.
