After an Astronomy Club member passes away, rumors of a ghost haunting the club's space begin to spread. Ganta Nakami, a grumpy insomniac, finds Isaki Magari—carefree yet somewhat defiant—inside the abandoned observatory. When Magari is startled awake, they try to flee but are trapped by a broken door. Despite their contrasting personalities, the two forge an unexpected bond, turning the observatory into a refuge for their shared time together. Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia follows Nakami and Magari's late-night meetings in the observatory beneath the stars, as they help each other cope with their insomnia and its effects on their school life.
