In a world where a rare condition called Kokuhaku disease restricts a person's total number of heartbeats, causing a weakened heart and shortened lifespan, a special device reveals the remaining count. Hatsu Takagi, who has adopted a quiet and solitary existence to preserve her heartbeats, is noticed by Hato Iijima when he catches a glimpse of her device as she changes clothes. Despite her withdrawn lifestyle, Hatsu reveals her genuine desire to live fully and make the most of her remaining time. Touched by her wish, Hato decides to help her chase a more vibrant life and raise her heart rate.
