マイ・ブロークン・マリコ

Mariko Ikagawa endured abuse and depression from childhood, finding comfort in her friend Tomoyo Shiino, a connection that lasted into their adult years. Now 26 and working as an office clerk, Shiino is stunned when a news report reveals Mariko has taken her own life. After failing to reach Mariko, she accepts the truth and decides to understand why her friend made this choice. Shiino retrieves Mariko's ashes from her abusive father, then sets out with the remains toward a place Mariko always wanted to visit, reflecting on the joyful memories they shared. The volume also includes a one-shot titled Yiska.

Background

My Broken Mariko was awarded the Bros. Comic Award by TV Bros. magazine in 2020. The manga ranked fourth in the 2021 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Female Readers division. The series was published in English by Yen Press on November 10, 2020. It was also released in Italian by J-POP on January 13, 2021; in French by Éditions Ki-oon on January 28, 2021; and in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC on March 5, 2022. The manga was adapted into a live-action movie that was released on September 30, 2022.
