In the 16th century, a witch helps a young apprentice escape a witch hunt and then vanishes without a trace. Centuries later, in modern-day Japan, the apprentice finally locates her—only to find that the once-powerful witch has become a gloomy, apathetic woman who spends her days smoking by the window. What follows is a relaxed, offbeat comedy revolving around the clash between a responsible apprentice and her completely unmotivated mentor.
