In "Don't Call It Mystery," average college student Totonou Kunou is caught off guard during his typical morning curry preparation when the police show up at his door. They question him about the previous night after discovering one of his classmates deceased near his residence, making him their main suspect in a murder case. Kunou insists on his innocence, stating that he had no connection with the victim and no motive to hurt them. However, a witness places him at the crime scene, leading to his prolonged detention. While interacting with the police department, it becomes evident that Kunou is not an ordinary suspect; despite being somewhat challenging to handle, he possesses keen observation skills and can discern personal issues of each officer with minimal information. As more evidence seems to implicate him, Kunou uses his sharp deductive abilities to solve the mystery surrounding his classmate’s death, exonerate himself, and uncover who is framing him.

Mystery to Iu nakare was nominated for the 12th and 13th Manga Taisho Awards in 2019 and 2020, placing second and sixth in the final ranking, respectively. In 2019, the manga was nominated for the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category; it later won the 67th award in the same category in 2022. The series was also nominated for the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the General category in 2020, and the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in 2022. The manga ranked four consecutive times on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Female Readers division from 2019 to 2022. The series has been published in English as Don't Call It Mystery by Seven Seas Entertainment as 2-in-1 omnibus volumes since May 30, 2023. The manga has also been released in French by Noeve Grafx since May 13, 2021. Mystery to Iu nakare was adapted into a Japanese television drama that was broadcast on Fuji TV from January 10, 2022, to March 28, 2022. It was also adapted into a live-action film that premiered on September 15, 2023.
