Takeshi Nanase lives a standard high school life, weighed down by a troubled past. Though he appears focused on his studies, his real priority is preserving his reputation among his classmates. He shares a relationship with his childhood friend Kurumi Isoshima, though the reasons for it are ambiguous. Otherwise, Takeshi keeps a low profile—until he discovers a girl in an unfamiliar uniform lying unconscious on the school grounds. Introducing herself as Mui Aiba, she reveals an astonishing truth: she is a magic user, and she has accidentally turned Takeshi into one as well, triggering a chain of strange events.
