During a summer day, eight-year-old Mari meets a mysterious girl named Michika in a bamboo grove. Michika seems to follow different rules from ordinary people and inadvertently takes something very precious from Ishizaki, Mari's classmate and bully. Feeling responsible, Michika invites Mari to enter a world beyond words, where understanding takes on a different form.
