In a hidden village, twins are born—one linked to the day, the other to the night. As time passes, the elder sibling, Yuru, becomes an animal hunter, while his sister, Asa, is confined to a cage, restricted to a role that limits her contact to only a select few. On what seems like an ordinary day, a group of armed men arrive by helicopter, called "dragons" by the villagers, and attack the village, killing all the adults in their search for Yuru. Rushing to save Asa and escape, Yuru finds only a dead body, with the culprit claiming to be his true twin sister. Before she can capture him, Yuru is rescued by Ryuu "Dera" Tadera, a frequent visitor to the village. But they soon find themselves cornered. In desperation, Dera tells Yuru to make an offering to the village deity, which summons two daemons whose presence is destined to unravel the mysteries behind the chaos.
