In middle school, Ichinose Kimitaka shared his love for basketball with his friends, but soon found himself falling behind in their skill level. His feelings of disappointment and envy built up until a confrontation, where he overheard his so-called friends wishing he would disappear. Defeated, Kimitaka set out to throw away his cherished basketball shoes, but instead encountered a girl discarding her dance shoes in frustration. Because of her height and the size of her hands and feet, she had been rejected from pursuing Spanish dancing. Kimitaka encouraged her to try basketball instead, and rather than disposing of their footwear, they swapped shoes. As he starts high school, Kimitaka discovers that this chance encounter transformed the girl's life positively, turning her into a cheerful and social basketball player.
