In "My Boy," thirty-year-old Satoko Tawada is stuck in a monotonous routine, trapped between a dull job and an unfulfilling personal life, especially as her ex-boyfriend, now her boss, continues to harass her. One evening after an exhausting day, she seeks relief at a park with a drink in hand. There, she spots a stray soccer ball, and twelve-year-old Mashuu Hayami comes chasing after it. Satoko initially scolds Mashuu for being out so late, but learns he can only practice soccer in the evenings due to his circumstances. Recalling her own days on her university futsal team and worried about his safety at night, she decides to teach him the basics of soccer. As they spend more time together, Satoko gradually takes on a nurturing role in Mashuu’s life, giving him the care and attention he lacks elsewhere. In return, Mashuu finds comfort in their interactions. However, their unique bond may face challenges from those who don’t understand or approve of their relationship.

Watashi no Shounen was nominated for the 10th Manga Taisho Award in 2017. In the same year, the manga ranked sixth on the Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2017 list, third in the Best Printed Manga category at the third Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards, and second in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division. The series was published in English as My Boy by Vertical Inc. from April 10, 2018, to May 10, 2022.
