While wandering through the backstreets of Academy City, Touma Kamijou runs into two girls: Ayu Mitsuari, a Tokiwadai Middle School student who can control minds using Mental Stinger, and Seria Kumokawa, a high school genius who achieves the same effect without any supernatural abilities. Kamijou finds himself caught between them, but the calm is short-lived. A colossal dragon-like creature suddenly appears, putting their safety at risk. The monster is the handiwork of an unknown Biohacker who gave it overwhelming combat strength, and it appears to be pursuing Ayu specifically. To protect the girls, Touma delves into the deep secrets of Academy City. This story takes place during Touma Kamijou's third year of middle school, one summer earlier. It is separate from his previous adventures, especially those involving Misaki Shokuhou. This tale marks Touma's first encounter with the complexities of Academy City.
