Genkaku Picasso

幻覚ピカソ

In *Genkaku Picasso*, Hikari "Picasso" Hamura is a socially withdrawn but exceptionally gifted 17-year-old high school artist. His only close friend is Chiaki Yamamoto, who gave him his nickname. They spend their afternoons by the river, where Picasso sketches the scenery and Chiaki reads books. Their friendship ends tragically when Chiaki dies in a helicopter accident, leaving Picasso physically unharmed but emotionally shattered. Tormented by guilt for surviving the crash while Chiaki did not, Picasso clings to a gift she gave him before her death—a tiny replica of herself. This miniature reveals that Picasso was meant to die, but Chiaki's prayers gave him a second chance under one condition: he must use his artistic talent and a new ability to see others' hidden problems to help those in need. Facing death if he refuses, Picasso agrees. He uses his pencil and sketchbook to draw his classmates' inner conflicts, then enters his own drawings to save them from their personal struggles.

Genkaku Picasso was published in English by VIZ Media under Shonen Jump Advanced imprint from November 2, 2010 to May 3, 2011. The manga was also featured in one of the issues of VIZ Media's former Shonen Jump magazine.
