In "Haiyore! Nyaruko-san," the story centers on Nyaruko, a formless deity of Chaos from the Cthulhu mythos who appears as an ordinary silver-haired girl. One night, high school student Mahiro Yasaka is pursued by a threatening black alien until Nyaruko intervenes to rescue him. She then explains that the creatures from H. P. Lovecraft's tales are extraterrestrial beings, and her mission is to protect Mahiro from being captured by an alien smuggler. Over time, Nyaruko, along with fellow Lovecraftian entities Cthugha and Hastur, ends up living as freeloading guests at Mahiro's house.
