In "Stigmata: Love Bites," Minami Asako has a rare gift: he can detect "echoes" left behind by murder victims, experiencing their final moments. He uses this ability alongside his supervisor, Superintendent Hiroto Kuroiwa, to help the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department crack difficult homicide cases. But each time he uses his power, the victim's echo temporarily possesses Asako, and he only finds relief through physical contact with others until the killer is caught. The case becomes personal when Kuroiwa’s ex-wife, Mari Agata, is found dead. Determined to solve her murder, Kuroiwa rushes to the scene. Though there are no obvious suspects, Asako connects with Mari’s lingering feelings for Kuroiwa. As the investigation unfolds, Asako begins to question whether the emotions he’s developing for Kuroiwa are truly his own or simply remnants of Mari’s unresolved love.
