In the Taisho era, Masataka Tagami, a youth from a rural village, travels to Tokyo aiming to enroll in a preparatory school. Soon after reaching the lively city, he becomes involved in a minor traffic accident with Soma Saiki, a 25-year-old business tycoon and leader of the Saiki trading company. Without a place to lodge, Masataka offers to work as a servant in the Saiki household. As his connection with Soma grows stronger, he begins to uncover the family's hidden and dark secrets.
