In the government-funded Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, established to cultivate Japan's future leaders, the reserved student Kiyotaka Ayanokouji joins Class 1-D. He forms a connection with his aloof classmate, Suzune Horikita. The school initially presents itself as a carefree environment with state-of-the-art facilities, but it soon becomes evident that only the top-performing classes can access these benefits, leaving Class D, considered the least desirable, at a significant disadvantage. Recognizing their precarious position, Ayanokouji, Horikita, and their classmates must set aside their internal conflicts and collaborate to surpass other classes, employing any strategies necessary to attain the prestigious ranking of Class A.

Background

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e ranked fourth in the 2020 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! in the Light Novels category. The series was published digitally in English as Classroom of the Elite by Seven Seas Entertainment from February 7, 2019, to May 12, 2022, and in print from May 7, 2019, to June 28, 2022. It has also been released in Italian by Dokusho Edizioni since December 14, 2022.
