In "Bug Ego," Makoto Hitsujiya transfers to a new high school where he encounters an eccentric student named Takehiro Kokudou. Kokudou introduces him to Bugs, phenomena that produce specific results when a precise sequence of actions is performed. For example, pressing certain buttons on a vending machine may cause bird droppings to appear on the pavement, while another Bug could allow someone to lift weights they normally could not handle. As time passes, Hitsujiya and Kokudou grow closer, using the odd and often absurd conditions required to activate Bugs that defy the boundaries of science and human ability. Following Kokudou's guidance, Hitsujiya becomes increasingly obsessed with discovering and triggering these anomalies. His fixation intensifies when he finds a set of conditions for a particularly ridiculous Bug that has the potential to change his fate, leading him into dangerous territory.
