In the deepest, uncharted parts of the dungeon, a corpse is found—one that has no reason to be there. Following his own resurrection, Iarumas has no recollection of his life prior to dying, and he spends his time venturing into the dungeon to collect the remains of fallen adventurers. Can they also be brought back? Or will the altar's god turn them into ashes? Regardless, Iarumas collects his fee for finding them. His abilities earn him a measure of reluctant respect, but he is also despised for his cold, practical nature. The living avoid him—Iarumas associates mainly with the deceased. That changes when he encounters Garbage, a feral young swordswoman who is the only one left alive from a slaughtered adventuring group. Together with Garbage, Iarumas delves further, searching the dungeon for hints about his own history while evading monsters, traps, and the ever-present threat of being permanently reduced to ash.
