When Chiaki Mikado was young, a strange three-headed dog tore away a fragment of his soul, making him unable to feel genuine happiness or joy. To cope, he fakes smiles when necessary. Eight years later, his father sends him a package from Greece containing a girl who has three different forms and personalities: Kuro, Shirogane, and Roze. In her Kuro form, she claims to be Chiaki's protector and reveals that she is actually Cerberus, the Underworld's guardian—the same creature that stole his soul. Her new goal is to help Chiaki find true happiness again. But this task is difficult. Because of his missing soul piece, Chiaki draws fiends and evil spirits. Through friendships, rivalries, and struggles, he strives to regain a basic human ability: the capacity to truly feel emotions.
