Aiko Morimura is a junior high school student who stands shorter than many of her classmates and has encountered a series of hardships. Her father left on a yacht a decade ago and has never been heard from since. Her mother, who works as a hat designer, relocated to Paris and left Aiko in the care of her uncle, Mr. Fujinami. Additionally, Aiko lost her beloved dog, Papi, in a tragic traffic accident. But her circumstances begin to change when another dog, Spank, unexpectedly enters her life. Spank's presence gradually restores happiness, helping Aiko rediscover joy.
