Dr. Akira Katou aims to secure a professorship at Meishin University Medical Center and ultimately overhaul Japan's corrupt medical system. The Batista requires exceptional surgical skill and has never been successfully performed in Japan. Iryuu: Team Medical Dragon won the 50th Shogakukan Manga Award for best general manga in 2004. It was adapted into a series of live action dramas by Fuji TV with each season premiering in 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2014. The series was published in French by Glénat from July 2008 to June 2013.
