This novelization of Makoto Shinkai's anime "Byousoku 5 Centimeter" centers on Toono Takaki and Shinohara Akari, once inseparable friends who drift apart due to the pressures of their family circumstances. Despite the distance, they stay in touch through letters. As time passes, their correspondence fades, and the physical and emotional distance between them grows. Takaki holds onto the memories of their shared history, wondering if he will ever reunite with Akari as his life takes unexpected directions.
