Takasu Ryuuji has discovered through experience that appearances can be misleading. Despite his genuinely kind nature, his unintentionally fierce glare and rugged facial features make him look like a troublemaker, leaving him with almost no hope of making new friends, let alone finding a girlfriend. It is Ryuuji's first day of his second year in high school, and things seem to be looking up. He ends up seated next to his only friend, Yuusaku, and even more importantly, next to the girl he has a secret crush on, Kushieda Minori. But just when it seems like everything is falling into place, he accidentally crosses paths with Aisaka Taiga, the most feared girl in school, turning her into his sworn enemy. To make matters worse, Taiga has moved in right next door to Ryuuji and happens to be Minori's best friend. Could this school year possibly get any worse?
