Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi

A strange rumor circulates about the Urashima Tunnel—it can grant any wish, but at the cost of the wisher's own lifespan. Kaoru Touno always regarded this as simple folklore, until one night he comes across the tunnel's dim entry. At first uninvolved, Kaoru becomes motivated by the desire to revive his sister Karen, who died five years ago due to his own carelessness. Entering the tunnel, he learns that the reality is much more complicated than the myth suggests, and the tunnel's actual essence stays uncertain. Kaoru's secret trips catch the notice of Anzu Hanashiro, a distant classmate who follows him on one of his visits. Despite his doubts and wariness about her motives, Kaoru lets Anzu come with him. Over the summer, they investigate the tunnel together, with Kaoru resolved to bring Karen back.

Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi won the Gagaga Award and Jury Special Award at the 13th Shogakukan Light Novel Award in 2018 under the title "Boku ga Urashima Tunnel wo Nukeru Toki" (僕がウラシマトンネルを抜ける時). It was published in English as The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes by Seven Seas Entertainment under the Airship imprint on May 17, 2022.
