In Cartagra: Tsuki Gurui no Yamai, the protagonist Takashiro Shugo, a former police officer now unemployed and dependent on a brothel for his livelihood, occasionally accepts detective assignments from his former superior. The narrative begins when he takes on a missing person case involving Kohzuki Yura, a young woman with whom Shugo shared a profound romantic connection prior to being deployed to war. Concurrently, a string of violent murders begins to emerge. As these criminal acts grow increasingly personal, Shugo becomes ensnared in a tangled network of circumstances that he can no longer ignore.
