Ayako

奇子

Jirou Tenge, the second son of a once-prominent Japanese family, comes back after being held as a prisoner of war in an American camp during World War II. On his return, he discovers that the war's social changes have deeply poisoned his family. His older brother, trying to hold onto some of the family's land after the government’s forced redistribution, has given his wife to their father in exchange for his approval, while other relatives have also fallen into moral decay. Jirou, whose strength was broken during his time as a captive, is forced into working as an American spy. The youngest daughter, Ayako, is now left to carry the weight of her family's sins.

Ayako was published in English by Vertical Inc. in a complete omnibus volume on November 30, 2010. It was also released in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora Veneta as a complete omnibus volume in February 2018.
