In the human village of Gensokyo, a rumor spreads that a youkai has been abducting people who are drunk, causing fear and unease among the residents. The Geidontei tavern lies at the heart of this rumor, though its food and drink seem ordinary and the owner behaves normally. Upon learning of the situation, shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei decides to look into the tavern as part of her duties. Her investigation, however, leads her to uncover a different enigma involving the tavern's most popular employee, Miyoi Okunoda, whose presence seems as ephemeral as a bubble.
