In a world where humans have become nearly extinct and strange creatures roam freely, a solitary Golem discovers a small, chained human child deep in the forest. The child, named Somali, has no memory of her parents. The Golem takes her in and develops a bond with Somali similar to that of a father and daughter. He abandons his role as the Guardian of the Forest to search for any remaining humans, including Somali's parents. However, Somali feels safe with the Golem and sees him as the only parent she needs. The story of Somali and the Forest Spirit unfolds as they travel together in search of other survivors, always careful to hide Somali's true identity to protect her from harm.

Background

Somali to Mori no Kamisama was officially discontinued on December 22, 2020 due to the author's continued poor health. The series was published digitally in English as Somari and the Guardian of the Forest by Coamix from February 22, 2019 to January 21, 2020, and in print as Somali and the Forest Spirit by Titan Comics under the Titan Manga imprint since December 17, 2024.
