In "Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin," six teenagers around 16 or 17, nicknamed Joe, Mario, Suppon, Baremoto, Heitai, and Kyabetsu, are sent to a reformatory for crimes including aggravated assault, fraud, and running away. Upon arrival, their harsh reality sets in as they are monitored by a violent and oppressive staff and reside under the watchful eye of a pedophile doctor. Conflict arises when they are forced to share a cell with Sakuragi, known as Anchan. Tensions escalate, leading to a confrontation where the six are severely beaten by the enigmatic young man, who displays exceptional boxing skills. The narrative delves into the lives of these seven individuals as they endure their grim surroundings and face disillusionment from society and loved ones. At its core, the story is about the strong and enduring bonds formed among these young men.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin won the 51st Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category, along with Taiyou no Mokishiroku Dainibu: Kenkokuhen. The series was serialized in Young Sunday until its final issue on July 31, 2008. Serialization transferred to on June 15, 2009. The series was published in French by Kazé in 3-in-1 omnibuses from October 7, 2015 to May 24, 2017.
