In the magical realm, the selection of the next queen involves a contest where two young witches travel to the Human World to gather the affections of boys who fall in love with them. For this round, Chocolat Meilleure and Vanilla Mieux, daughters of past queen contenders and best friends, attend a human school to take part in the challenge. Guided by their mentor Rockin Robin and assisted by their familiar spirits, the witches adjust to living amongst humans while competing to win the throne. Chocolat, known for her popularity with boys in the magical realm, finds that her usual methods are ineffective in capturing human hearts. On the other hand, Vanilla's reserved and gentle demeanor unexpectedly draws significant notice. Their quest becomes even more intricate when a mysterious boy named Pierre Tempête de Neige starts to show interest in Chocolat. As tensions rise during the competition, the bond between the two witches faces its toughest trial.

Background

Suger Sugar Rune won the 29th Kodansha Manga Awards in the children's manga category. The series was published in English by Del Rey from September 27, 2005 to September 30, 2008. On July 11, 2015, Udon Entertainment revealed that they had re-licensed the series for release in English. A release date has yet to be announced for the first volume.
