Busou Renkin

In "Buso Renkin," teenager Kazuki Mutou sacrifices his own life to save a girl from a strange monster. The next day, he wonders if the event was only a dream, but in truth, the girl, Tokiko Tsumura, was pursuing a homunculus—a creature that feeds on humans and can assume human form—and Kazuki's interference resulted in his death. To bring him back, Tokiko replaces his heart with a "kakugane," an alchemical device that allows him to summon a lance to fight these monsters. Tokiko belongs to the Renkin Kenshi (Alchemist Soldiers), an organization devoted to protecting the world from these malevolent beings. Kazuki soon joins Tokiko's mission to destroy the evil force that creates and controls the homunculi. Bonus material: Volume 10: Embalming: Dead Body and Bride.

Busou Renkin was published in English as Buso Renkin by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint from August 1, 2006, to February 5, 2008. It was also released in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC from July 2010 to May 2011.
