In "Goodbye, Eri," Yuuta Itou follows his dying mother's request to record her final days, capturing both her joy and pain through extensive video footage. After her death, Yuuta edits these recordings into a film called "Dead Explosion Mother" for a school screening, adding a fictional explosion scene at the end for a fantastical touch. The film sparks controversy for being seen as insensitive toward his mother's death, leading Yuuta to consider jumping from the hospital rooftop. There, he meets Eri, a girl who admires his work. She challenges him to make a new film that surpasses his first and silences his critics. Their project aims to mix reality with fantasy, continuing Yuuta's habit of including supernatural elements.
