Kuzu no Honkai

The pain of loving someone who does not love you back is a common yet deeply agonizing experience. It takes many forms, each carrying its own heavy load of unfulfilled longing. Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya seem like the perfect couple, admired by everyone around them and viewed as typical young lovers. However, beneath this surface lies a concealed reality: both secretly yearn for other people and turn to each other to satisfy their unreturned desires. Hanabi harbors feelings for Narumi Kanai, her new homeroom teacher and former childhood friend. Meanwhile, Mugi is in love with Akane Minagawa, his former tutor. As Kanai and Minagawa—now coworkers—begin to develop feelings for each other, Hanabi and Mugi find comfort in their shared emotional suffering. With little hope that their true loves will ever acknowledge their feelings, Hanabi and Mugi must decide whether to accept and move past their physical cravings or become more deeply entangled in the complex web of unrequited love. Background

Kuzu no Honkai received a live-action TV series adaptation that began airing on Fuji TV on January 18, 2017. The series was published in English as Scum's Wish by Yen Press from October 25, 2016 to August 21, 2018.
