Synopsis

To the outside world, Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya appear to be the ideal pair, yet both conceal a shared sorrow: they are desperately in love with people who are out of reach. Hanabi has harbored feelings for her childhood friend and neighbor, Narumi Kanai, since their youth, and her joy reaches new heights when he becomes her homeroom teacher. That happiness quickly dissolves, however, when Narumi begins dating the music teacher, Akane Minagawa. Similarly, Mugi has been smitten with Akane ever since she tutored him during middle school. When the two lonely teenagers meet in the hallway, they agree to serve as stand-ins for their true loves, finding temporary comfort in their physical connection to alleviate their profound isolation.
