Kono Genta, a former yakuza, ended up in prison following a certain event. After spending over ten years behind bars, he is finally released, only to find that the world around him has changed entirely. Through his probation officer's help, he secures both a place to stay and employment, yet the kindness others show him makes him uneasy, and he strives to become self-sufficient as quickly as possible. But for an ex-convict with no family or friends, living a "normal" life proves far from simple... Still, Kono does have one source of happiness: his daily "mealtimes." With his limited funds, he cleverly crafts simple yet special dishes. As he continues to navigate the hardships of life, a hungry boy suddenly appears before him.
