Megure, Midori

Megure, Midori

Summary

When Midori was approximately eighteen, a serial hit-and-run driver stalked the streets, randomly targeting high school girls in long skirts to retaliate against a girl gang he had previously suffered under, as its members had worn similar attire. Midori, also part of a girl gang, saw her best friend become the first fatality. With the culprit still at large, she volunteered to act as a decoy to help catch the killer. Due to a shortage of available police officers, Midori’s extreme stubbornness led her to insist on working alone, but Commissioner Matsumoto ordered her to be teamed up with Juzo Megure, who was then a junior police officer. The car runner unexpectedly struck both of them. Although Megure attempted to pull Midori to safety, they were both harmed. Fortunately, Megure managed to recall the perpetrator’s license plate number, leading to the criminal's swift arrest. Midori suffered grave injuries but recovered, leaving only a scar on her forehead. Out of gratitude, she later married Megure. In a role reversal, she is one of the few people capable of tempering his impulsive surges, a dynamic her husband finds somewhat embarrassing. Midori has made unseen appearances as a crime witness requiring station questioning and had a cameo during the White Day Murder Case. She is also mentioned by Takagi in episode 146; she was inside the bank during a robbery and was wounded when criminals pushed her around. Takagi notes that this incident explains why Inspector Megure is handling the case with such seriousness.
