Summary
Rika is a seventeen-year-old girl whose life has been largely confined to a hospital bed due to a genetic weakness in her heart valve, a condition inherited from her father who passed away during an operation. Isolated by her long-term hospitalization, she has no friends and fills her days by reading works by her favorite author, Ryonosuke Akutagawa. Yuuichi, a fellow patient, is encouraged by the nurse Akiko to keep Rika company. Additionally, she shares a close relationship with Dr. Natsume, who serves as her personal physician.
