Summary
Persona is a mysterious teacher who serves as the moderator for the Dangerous Ability Class, always keeping his face concealed by a mask. He is the source of much of Natsume’s trouble and refers to the student as his "Best Student." His Alice is the Mark of Death, which manifests as a red cross mark of obedience on his cheek. Born on April 13 between the ages of 20 and 22, he is also known by the nickname Serio. Throughout the series, Persona reveals his face only three times. Natsume first sees him without his mask in Central Town in chapter 46, though Persona wears sunglasses at the time. He later disguises himself as a substitute teacher named Serio during one of Natsume’s exams to investigate the cause of Natsume’s sudden change, though Natsume quickly identifies him. The third revelation occurs in the Hana Princess arc when Mikan knocks off his mask while attempting to stop him from harming Natsume. Persona has a history of using his Alice to control others. He once held Natsume’s sister, Aoi, captive to ensure Natsume’s obedience and gave her a strange stone that caused her Alice to go berserk, burning down the entire town. After Aoi lost her memories, Persona told her he would be her older brother. Later, he used his Alice on Mikan, causing her to suffer from a serious illness, and on Subaru Imai, Hotaru’s older brother, who is the only known survivor of his Alice. Consequently, the school administration appoints him to cure Mikan. It is revealed that Persona knows Mikan’s father and may have provided his first Alice controlling device, the earrings Mikan later destroyed. He is described as a sad and lonely individual who is deeply fond of Nobara Ibaragi, referring to her as "his doll." He wears numerous ability control devices, including bracelets, rings, and earrings. During Mikan’s hospitalization, Sakurano notices a strange black stone in Mikan’s hand that heals her wounds and changes color. Sakurano deduces that Mikan possesses a secondary ability to draw out a person’s Alice into the stone, effectively neutralizing Persona’s power.
