Summary
Hatsumi Usuzumi is a third-year student at Eisui Girls' High School in Kagoshima Prefecture and a supporting character in the manga "Saki". As a shrine maiden, she hails from a branch family of the lineage on the volcanic island of Akusekijima, which is part of the Ryukyu Islands. During the qualifying tournament, Hatsumi secured the prefectural title for Eisui and a spot in the national tournament by achieving a direct yakuman in her match segment. Notably, this victory occurred before teammate Kasumi Iwato had to play the captain's segment. Hatsumi is frequently depicted wearing a ceremonial shaman's mask, specifically a Boze mask from her headdress, which she uses during her duties as an Akuseki shrine maiden and has even been seen breathing flames from it. Despite her success, she can be quite stubborn; she once insisted on attempting to make a hand while seated in the north position, ignoring repeated blocks by Sae Usuzawa and warnings from her teammates. She also shows deep concern for Komaki, refusing to let her overexert herself. In her personal life, Hatsumi enjoys swimming.
