Summary
Brigadier General Fessler served as the Amestrian military officer tasked with securing the Kanda region of Ishval during the Ishval Civil War. A petty and ignorant individual, he prioritized enhancing his own reputation over the lives of his subordinates. Driven by an obsession to clear his sector before other officers, he made numerous hasty decisions that resulted in significant loss of life among his troops. When Major Alex Louis Armstrong suffered a mental breakdown due to the emotional strain of massacring Ishvalan civilians, Fessler exacerbated the situation by berating him. Even when his errors devastated his own forces, he dismissed them as "home runs" as long as the mission objective was achieved. Later, when Colonel Basque Grand escorted Logue Lowe to Fessler in hopes of securing an audience with King Bradley, Fessler stubbornly refused and ordered his soldiers back into the fray. At that moment, he was shot point-blank in the chest by Grand's rifle. Although several witnesses observed the blatant assassination, every soldier present agreed that Fessler's death was caused by a stray bullet, a lie that truly signified how much they despised him and his methods. Following his death, the position of commander for Kanda was succeeded by Basque Grand.
