Endou, Yuuji
Summary
Endou, Yuuji is a corrupt loan shark with connections to the yakuza who provides large sums to desperate individuals while charging exorbitant and illegal interest rates. After one of his clients, Furuhata, vanished without repaying a debt that Kaiji had cosigned due to a moment of weakness, Endou tracked Kaiji down. Acknowledging that Kaiji could never repay the loan through conventional means, Endou offered him a chance to board the gambling ship Espoir, presenting it as a way for Kaiji to settle his debt and earn some money.
