Summary
Deniz serves as the Turkish elder and community leader in town, acting as a bridge between his people and outsiders. He successfully persuades the local Turkish residents to trust Dr. Kenzo Tenma and a local prostitute when they attempt to warn the leaders of Frankfurt's Turkish Quarter about an impending arson attack orchestrated by neo-Nazis under the command of The Baby. Additionally, when Tenma asks about General Nogi, Deniz recounts a specific incident in which the General saved an Ottoman fleet belonging to the Turkish Navy that had run aground in the Pacific. Deniz holds Nogi up as a prime example of a trustworthy Japanese man.
