Summary
After Michael Muller left the police force, he joined a syndicate and settled in Dusseldorf. His superiors ordered him to maintain a cover as a businessman, a disguise that served him well. Each morning, he would sit in a cafe where a woman and her young son, Fritz, would walk past. Muller viewed this daily encounter as a poignant reminder of the honest, ordinary life he had abandoned.
