Ran is the first Guardian Character to emerge from Amu’s eggs, characterized by her athletic prowess and straightforward, honest nature. She typically sports a side ponytail, a pink sun visor, a heart-shaped hair clip, and a red cheerleader-style outfit. Disliking silence, she actively encourages Amu to confess her feelings for Tadase during their initial Character Change. This transformation grants Amu enhanced athletic abilities, with small wings appearing at her wrists and ankles to enable high jumps and flight. When Amu transforms into "Amulet Heart" by syncing with Ran, the clover emblem on her Humpty Lock turns pink, and she wears a matching pink cheerleader costume. In this form, she utilizes the Heart Rod to perform her special move, "Spiral Heart." The activation phrase for this Character Change is "Hop, Step, Jump." Ran was originally featured on the creator Peach-Pit’s website prior to the release of the first volume of Shugo Chara!.
