Summary

Kanzaki Kaori is an eighteen-year-old magician affiliated with both Necessarius and the Amakusa-Style Remix of Church, where she holds the title of Priestess. Distinguished by her purple hair and eyes, she stands at 175 cm tall. Her magical name is Salvare000, and she employs a unique style that uses magic to physically strengthen her body, contrasting with her partner Stiyl’s methods. She wields a two-meter-long katana, specifically a Nodachi named Shichiten Shichitou, which translates to "Seven Heavens Seven Swords." Her signature technique, Nanasen or "Seven Flashes," utilizes seven wires that can multiply into thousands to encircle and sever her opponents. Originally a kind individual who treated Index like a sister, Kanzaki underwent a drastic personality shift after Index’s memories were erased by Necessarius. Because Index no longer remembered her, Kanzaki became cold and silent, struggling with the lack of trust. Her past reveals that she is not only a skilled swordswoman but also a Saint possessing the "Stigma," the ability to channel God’s power. She previously served as the leader of the Amakusa Church but abandoned the group after realizing her incredible luck was causing misery for those she cared about, leading her to despise the concepts of luck and fortune. She joined Necessarius to alter her fate and initially bonded with Index, but repeated failures to restore Index’s memories convinced her that destiny cannot be changed. Her perspective shifts after Touma saves Index’s life and restores her current memories, filling Kanzaki with immense gratitude. As Touma helps her confront her history with the Amakusa Church, she begins to believe that destiny can be defied, softening her demeanor and allowing her to show emotion and occasional embarrassment around him. She gradually falls in love with Touma during this process. Kanzaki also serves as the protagonist of a spin-off mini light novel bundled with the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun DVDs.
