Summary
Raised in Gunma Prefecture, Numabuchi Kiichirou was a serial hold-up murderer who became entangled with the Black Organization. Initially recruited as an assassin, his psychological instability disqualified him for combat duty, leading to his selection as a test subject for the APTX 4869 poison under the supervision of Miyano Shiho. Although Shiho reviewed his medical files, the two never met in person. Aware of his impending role as a guinea pig, Numabuchi fled the organization, panicking and killing several individuals he wrongly believed were pursuing him. Despite his reputation as a psychotic killer, he is portrayed more as a frightened victim driven by a desperate desire for freedom. His actions are largely fueled by fear, yet he reveals a sensitive nature and a fondness for children, notably demonstrated when he rescues Mitsuhiko after a misguided attempt to give a surprise gift to his crushes, Ayumi and Haibara.
